About Lauren
Hi, my name is Lauren and I am a Level 3 qualified Dog Groomer in Maidstone, Kent.
When I think back, my love for dogs started with my grandparent's German Shepherd, Duke. He was a gentle giant and I couldn't wait to visit my grandparents house to spend endless hours playing with him in the garden.
Growing up, I lived on a working farm. I would horse ride most days. I started riding on a small pony, and ended up riding Shire horses instead! I still try to get back in the saddle when I can.
When I left secondary school, I knew I wanted to work with animals. So I completed a foundation degree with the University of Greenwich in Animal Behavioural Science and Welfare. It gave me the opportunity to work with a range of animals from Asian Short Clawed Otters to Sugar Gliders!
Whilst completing my degree, I completed my work experience with a local Canine Hydrotherapy Centre. I was lucky enough to earn employment at the centre once my placement ended. I worked with a range of different breeds with a range of different conditions. From Arthritis and Hip Dysplasia, to Paralysis. My time here cemented my love for all things canine. However walking past a dog grooming training facility on most days caught my eye...
I went on to complete my Level 2 qualification as a Dog Grooming Assistant in a training facility run by The Pet Industry Federation. Following that, I completed my Level 3 qualification to become a fully qualified stylist via an apprenticeship in a busy salon environment. I've been grooming for just over 6 years.
And here we are, Grooming by Lauren...
